It is with great joy and thanks to our Lord that we share the exciting news of the latest addition to the Johnson Family: Julianna Faith.

She was born approximately 8:40 a.m. today, weighed 9 lbs, 6oz, and was 21 and 1/4 inches long.

Mom and baby are doing as well as can be expected. A special thanks to those who have been praying for us in this pregnancy and delivery, and who are continuing to pray.

Keeping busy while waiting...
by Katie
Friday, July 27, 2007
We've been having some nice, relaxing days, as my sister Rachel came over to stay with us for the whole week last week, and my sister Rebecca came and stayed with us for the first part of this week. They always bless us so much! They keep me company during the day, which distracts me from getting overly impatient about the baby's arrival. :) They always do so much to help, too, in just about every area--dishes, diapers, sewing, cooking, babysitting, etc! While they were here, they took over all the cooking, and packed some casseroles away in the freezer for after the baby comes. Have you ever heard of such wonderful sisters?!

I started feeling guilty for having my sisters over so much, because I know they are sorely missed at home when they come here! I told my mom that I could handle everything just fine without them for a couple of days (though I want them to come back soon!), and so Rebecca went home on Wednesday. Thursday morning I woke up, determined to conquer everything all by myself, even though I am extra tired now that my due date draws so near. Tom left shortly before 8:00 in the morning, and I was on my own again. The kids were feeling extra energetic, and I was feeling particularly NOT energetic! They were little whirlwinds of mischief that day--tearing clothes out of drawers, diapers out of the diaper stacker, books off the shelves, etc! By 9:30 in the morning, I was exhausted! Bethy's morning naptime saved the day, and everything went smoother from there, but still I'm eagerly looking forward to having one of my sisters over again! :)

While Rebecca was here for the early part of this week, I had more time to get to work on a project that has been waiting a long time. Our bathroom windows are an eyesore, and I have wanted to make curtains to cover them. The curtains came together really fast (Rebecca worked on them, too), and I couldn't wait to hang them up. Wednesday night, Tom put rods up so that we could hang them, and then we stood back to admire the finished project. One thought struck me as I looked at them--"Wow, they look awfully girly!" I had used lavender and white checked fabric, and edged it with eyelet. Somehow, I wasn't picturing them turning out so frilly when I was making them! I thought they were cute anyway, though, and asked Tom what he thought. He said he didn't mind the frills, and they certainly looked better than those ugly windows, so I guess I will call the project a success!

Tom says that I must have the "nesting instinct", because I want to have everything perfect before the baby comes. I am awfully curious as to when this little guy/girl is going to arrive. I hope it is soon, but I'm trying not to count on it. I was made more impatient than ever this week, because a friend of mine who was due after me had her baby last Sunday! That makes this baby feel late, even though it isn't even due quite yet. :)

Getting close...
by Katie
Saturday, July 14, 2007
This last week I reached 37 weeks in my pregnancy. That means our baby is now a full-term baby, and could come any day now! The due date is around the 1st of August, and I'm guessing this baby is going to be late, but you never know! It is exciting to be in the last stretch.

Several posts back, I joked about needing a wheelchair to go shopping when I am heavily pregnant. I never thought I would actually use one, but today I found myself really wanting to! We went shopping at Walmart, and partway through I got a terrible sideache (not contractions, but it still hurt quite a bit!). I don't know if the baby was pinching a nerve or what. All I know is that it hurt so much I couldn't walk! I sat down and waited while Tom did some of the rest of the shopping with the kids in the double stroller. I knew I couldn't even walk out to the car, so I wondered how I was going to get out of Walmart and across the parking lot when the shopping was done. I pictured Tom carrying his very pregnant wife through the store (and pushing a double stroller and a shopping cart, too?!), and immediately dismissed that idea. After all--I don't weigh that much less than him when I am in my 9th month of pregnancy! I wondered if I could somehow take a ride in the shopping cart, and eyed Michael and Bethy's seats in the stroller with envy! Finally it occured to me that I could ask for one of those carts that you can drive, so Tom snagged someone who worked at Walmart and she brought one over. Nice! :) I got in and was then able to finish the shopping with Tom. I had a hard time not cracking up with laughter as I cruised through the store, with Tom following with the double stroller. I didn't want to laugh, though, because I was afraid it'd make my side hurt more. So I tried to squash my amusement, and concentrate on not running into everything (I'm afraid I'm not extremely coordinated, and laughing at my predicament would only make my steering more unpredictable!). I guess I never pictured actually using one of those cart things, though I had joked about it more than once! :) Thankfully, my pain gradually subsided and I was able to leave the cart at the door, and walk to the car.

Needless to say, I'm feeling rather large with child, and don't quite have the energy that I used to. ;) I'm looking forward to the baby coming, but I do hope that he/she waits another week or so, because I still have some things I'd like to finish! I have a feeling that I don't need to worry about that. I think this is an August baby. We'll see, though. These little people have minds of their own! :)

A Day In Pictures
by Katie
Saturday, June 30, 2007
Have you ever wanted to peek into someone's real life, and see what they look like on a regular day? We thought it would be fun to document one of our "regular days" in pictures, from the beginning to the end. That includes the imperfect pictures--the ones where the baby has a bruise on her head from falling against the desk, Mommy is still in her pjs during breakfast, and the toddler is screaming for his food! Click HERE to start at the beginning of the photos, or click on "View Gallery" below. Hope you enjoy a little glimpse into one of our days, full of johnson family adventures!
