Well, it's been quite awhile since we updated this site, but we have a very good reason. :) At the start of January, we found out that we are expecting Baby #4! :) Baby Johnson is due to arrive in September, and I am 9 weeks pregnant. We are really excited about this new addition to our family, and are looking forward to being a "family of six" this September! :)
I have been having quite a bit of "morning sickness" (we don't know why it got that name, because it can go on for the whole day!), and so things like updating this website haven't been on the top priority list. :) However, it should be getting a little better soon, if this baby copies the pattern of his/her siblings. :) Rachel and Rebecca have been an invaluable help during the last few weeks while the "morning sickness" has been especially bad. And if having "morning sickness" wasn't enough, Michael, Bethany, and I all came down with the flu during the last part of January and the first part of February! That was really tough, but Rachel and Rebecca came over and helped us pull through it (they had recently gotten over this flu, and didn't think they would get it again. Thankfully, they were fine). Wow--whatever in the world would we do without them?! Talk about a labor of love!
The other night, Michael was entertaining Julie and got her to laugh! Click

Awhile back I wrote about what breakfast time can be like around here. Want to hear about lunch? Ok, here it goes:
Lunch is usually a crazy time, and today was no exception. It all started out fine. I got out the bread and the bologna, and proceeded to make lunch. It takes longer than it sounds, since the bologna was frozen, and I had to run hot water over it and thaw one piece at a time. Tom came home and had to eat fast, as he had already used up part of his lunch break to go to the store. Partway through lunch, I finally made a sandwich for myself, and started eating. I was absolutely starving, since I had barely eaten anything for breakfast. I was repeatedly interrupted by the kids needing this or that, and was kept busy trying to persuade Michael to eat the lunch he already had on his plate. About this time, Tom's lunch break was up, and he had to go back to work. As he left I asked him if we could talk on the phone while he was driving back to work, so that he could walk me through the steps of how to replace an ink cartridge in the printer (I had replaced an ink cartridge before, but wasn't sure if I remembered how to do it) About this time, Bethany was growing more and more upset because she wanted be "ah duh" (all done) and get down from her highchair. I left the rest of my sandwich on my plate (there wasn't much left), and went to clean her up. After letting her loose, the phone rang. It was Tom, ready to tell me how to replace the ink cartridge. Michael was still finishing his lunch, so I stepped into the den where the printer is, and successfully replaced the cartridge. However, I then realized that I had accidentally replaced one that already had ink in it! Somewhere in the confusion, I noticed Bethany eating the last little bit of my sandwich. She must have sneaked into the kitchen and taken it off my plate. Oh well, I still had two pieces of bologna out on another plate. I had wanted another sandwich anyway. I then checked on Michael, and marveled that he was still sitting at the table without complaint, even though he had been totally deserted. I began to replace the correct ink cartridge, with Tom still on the phone. I commented about what an idiot I was for replacing the wrong cartridge, and then I looked up to notice Bethany standing in the doorway, triumphantly holding the two pieces of bologna in her hand that were for my other sandwich. "Bethany!" I shrieked as she darted away. I was about to grab the bologna, when I realized that I'd just replaced an ink cartridge, and who knows what type of chemicals are all over my hands? I dashed into the kitchen and quickly washed my hands, and then chased Bethany through the house, who loved this little game. I still had Tom on the phone, and commented to him that for some reason, I feel like I have a dog who likes to steal my lunch off the table. You'd think I never feed these kids! Wasn't she just begging to be done a few minutes ago? But this is classic Bethany. Food tastes better when you eat it away from your highchair. I finally caught my little girl, and retrieved my lunch. As I went into the kitchen to rinse it off, I chuckled to myself at how much I have changed. A year or two ago, I would have probably boiled this bologna to get the germs off from Bethany's dirty hands, and now it just gets rinsed. After I finished that, I set it on a plate on the table and turned my back for a few seconds. When I looked back, I noticed Michael stuffing something in his mouth. For a second I was amazed that he actually finished the rest of his lunch, and then I realized that his lunch was in a heap on the floor. That was a piece of my bologna that disappeared into his mouth!
I think I should write a book on the new "diet and exercise plan" I've been on. Some of the points I'm still learning. Here are the basics:
1. Acquire three children under three who will keep you so busy that you rarely have time to cook anything really nice.
2. Keep moving 24/7—including during mealtimes. Walk around the house holding your plate with one hand, and eating with the other. Or else bounce the baby in her bouncer with your foot while cramming food down your throat
3. Don't start eating until you've finished feeding your children (by the time you get to it, it is so cold or dry that it doesn't look appetizing at all)
4. Eat your children's breadcrusts for lunch, or count the pan scrapings as your “dinner”
5. Leave your lunch unattended and within the reach of children.
Look for my book as a bestseller in 2008!! ;) :)
I recently posted over 100 photos in the second fall photo gallery! Check them out if you'd like!
With time becoming more and more limited, I find it very hard to do things that I used to make part of my daily routine. Low-maintenance, wrinkle-free clothes are a must when you have approximately 27 seconds to get dressed. Even writing these last few sentences, I've been distracted several times by my energetic little ones. :)
Today was a good day. No one got too terribly hurt, and last I checked, you can actually walk through the living room without spraining your ankle from all the toys and couch cushions underfoot. And why would there be couch cushions on the living room floor, you ask? Well, Michael and Bethany have discovered that once you throw the cusions off, the springs underneath make a great trampoline!
Today was such a good day, in fact, that I actually got a few minutes to play the piano. The kids both wanted to sit on me, pound on the piano themselves, rearrange the piano books or turn the pages when I'm trying to play, and once I was accidentally hit in the face by Michael's hand as he played the part of a "music director", and was vigorously waving his hand to the music.
Horses have been the newest infatuation around here lately. Michael especially can hardly get his mind off of them. But since our little boy doesn't have a horse of his own, he decided to resign himself to using Daddy and Mommy instead. Crawling around on all fours while carrying a child on my back has not done good things to my spine, I'm sure!
Michael and Bethany are so anxious for their little sister to grow up! They love it when I push Julie around on one of their ride-on toys. It has been so fun to see their love for her grow over the past three months. Bethany has blossomed into a very sweet big sister, and enjoys giving Julie big hugs and kisses now, just like Michael.
The best part of the day has just begun, because DADDY'S HOME!!! :) :) I'd better go warm up the leftovers for dinner (hooray for leftovers--that was the only reason I had time to write tonight!).
