Recent Happenings
We've enjoyed some fun weeks recently! We had our family vacation back in May, and then Tom and I went away for a little vacation for our anniversary last week.
For our family vacation, we were too tired to go spend the night anywhere, so we just decided to stay home and visit fun places nearby. We enjoyed it very much! We visited a bird farm/petting zoo where the kids got to feed the animals, we spent an evening going on some "little kiddie rides" at a place near our home, we dropped the kids off at Grandpa and Grammy's for a day and went on a date as a couple, we rearranged the kids bedroom and set up twin beds for Michael and Bethany instead of their cribs, we shopped for quilts for their bedroom, and had some good relaxing family time together at home. Though it was a very odd "family vacation", it was a lot of fun for us, and just what this tired Daddy and Mommy needed!
Though not on our vacation week, we also enjoyed spending extra special time with both sides of the family in late May. We went on a nature walk with my family one day in late May, and on Memorial Day, we spent some time with Tom's parents at their cabin in the nearby mountains.
For our fourth anniversary, Tom and I dropped the kids off at my parents' house, and spent a night at a splendid bed and breakfast next to the ocean. We absolutely loved our time away, and wanted it to last longer! We both agreed that this is the best anniversary trip we have had so far, and is in close competition with our honeymoon for our "best ever" trip. :) We both feel so blessed to have been able to enjoy four wonderful years together! I feel so blessed to be married to Tom--I love him more and more with each year that passes! He is such a joy to be around!

Spring has really been in full force over here...or should I say summer? Last weekend it was so hot, it sure felt like summer! On Saturday we got out a brand new "kiddie pool" for the kids that was a gift from relatives. They all enjoyed it--Michael especially. Bethany tried to sit down several times, but never quite found the courage. So, she just waded. :) I'm sure she will get used to it fast. Bethany and Julie certainly got plenty wet, though, because a certain brother of theirs showed his enthusiasm for the water in rather extraverted ways! We tried to help him learn that he needs to do a little less violent splashing. :)
On Sunday we went to a wedding shower for Tom's cousin (Julie and I went to it, actually, while Tom, Michael, and Bethany took some long walks). It was great to see some of our relatives that we haven't seen since Christmas! After the wedding shower, we wanted to help the kids get their wiggles out before the long drive home, so we took them to the beach (which wasn't too far away). We didn't get there till around 6:00 in the evening, but it was still quite warm outside--warm enough to get wet! Michael enjoyed the water, but his favorite part by far was running along the beach. Bethany liked the waves, but preferred to keep her sandals on and just look. :) Julie was quite content playing with the sand. We hated to go after about an hour, but we knew we had to get home. It was still so beautiful out when we left! Hooray for warm weather!
On Monday (the 28th) we got to celebrate my sweet Tom's birthday! Michael kept on wishing him a happy birthday all throughout the day, which melted his heart. :) Happy birthday to the best husband and daddy in the world!!

Our little Bethy turned two today! It has been such a joy to raise her and see her grow up these past two years.
Bethy had a fun birthday playing outside, eating yummy food, and opening presents! It's hard to say which she enjoyed the most. :)
